Viktor Klemperer is famous for his diary that records the daily lives of Jews living under the Nazis. As a philologist, he pays attention to the uniqueness of the language they speak during the Nazis’ just rise. In’Languages of the Third Reich’, which he wrote based on the memo of those days, he details the process by which Nazi ideology penetrates into the everyday language used by the public.

[진중권의 퍼스펙티브]
Resisting the “elected power” is regarded as a “coup” force
Unable to distinguish between liberal democracy and popular democracy,
The destruction of democracy is called’democracy’
This confusion of language is the first sign of totalitarianism.

The unique language of totalitarianism

At that time, in Germany, assassination was called’special measures’, torture was called’strong interrogation’, and forced detention was called’evacuation’. ‘Fanatic’ was used in a positive sense when modifying them, and a negative meaning when modifying enemies. Creating and spreading various cliche that attack the enemy, such as’different seeds’ and’eternal Jews’, is also a language habit peculiar to totalitarians.

A similar phenomenon is also occurring in this country. Evidence destruction is called’evidence preservation’, and proxy test is called’open book’. ‘Principle of presumption of innocence’ has a different meaning depending on the target, so if the target is on your side, it is used to mean’Shut up until the Supreme Court’s final judgment.’ On the other hand, climatic tours that stigmatize silence are also popular.

‘Giregi’ and’Yoon Jajang’ belong to aegyo. Expressions such as’indigenous Japanese war’ are rather serious. This is because the ideology, that is, the racist and nationalist ideology, is on the ground. If I put this expression in my mouth repeatedly, I become ideology-laden without my knowledge. Normal communication is impossible with those who have consciousness with ideology.

In politically sensitive contexts, the expression’red obstruction’ is often used. It is mainly used for groups designated as enemies, but after the recent court rulings against the government several times, the term’judicial obliteration’ has emerged after’prosecution’ and’media obliteration’. Whenever they are in crisis, they invent a new’enemy’ and put this label in front of it.

Does election power transcend the law?

What they frequently use these days is the term’elected power’. This expression is tied to the words’coup’ or’governmental act’ and is used to place the president on the constitution and to proclaim the Blue House as an extraterritorial jurisdiction where the laws of the Republic of Korea do not apply. It is an expression that directly denies the principle of rule of law that’no one can be an exception to the law’.

In democratic countries, the president is also bound by the law. The sensational “rule action” must also be done within the constitution and law. But Democrats don’t have this common sense. They believe that the President has the power to act in the extrajudicial name of’rule action’, and those who do not follow it are often regarded as’coup’ forces resisting’elected powers’.

Let’s listen to Rep. Kim Doo-gwan. He vowed that the court’s ruling was “a judicial coup that suspended the president’s power.” “I will certainly prevent the ruling act of the president elected by the people from being raped by the prosecutors and judges.” My head is also very bad. The fact that the disciplinary action for violating the procedure was an act of the President’s rule means that he conceived of the President’s abuse of authority.

Lim Jong-seok also intervened. “I will surely stop the power that was not elected from trampling the elected power.” The declaration of running is also very strange. It’s not just politicians. The Seoul National University Civil Association also issued a statement stating that the court was “outly resisting the elected power” as a ruling. A column with an odd title appeared in a newspaper. ‘Should we elect a judge now?’

Hitler destroys German democracy

There is an unfair premise on the basis of this expression. In other words,’only elected powers are legitimate, and institutions not elected are the vested interests’. This is also a political frame. Since they are elected powers, it is a strict warning that those who are not elected, whether they are the prosecutors, the auditor, or the judiciary, should not touch the sacred reform quality they do.

Talking about the’elected power theory’ is actually a denial of the legitimacy of their regime. Think of former President Park Geun-hye. He, too, was an “elected power,” but was impeached by nine non-elected constitutional judges. If this is so unfair, it is time to take him in prison and return the fraudulent (?) regime.

The life of democracy lies in the separation of powers. Among them, the judiciary was not originally an elected power, so’separation of powers’ means a check between elected and non-elected powers. Therefore, it is impossible for the president to have full power just because he was’elected’. ‘Because we are, do everything we want’ is a dream that cannot be achieved in a democratic society.

That dream is possible only in other systems. In fact, after being’elected’, there was a leader who did everything he wanted to do. Adolf Hitler. The Nazi Party only received 2% more than Moon Jae-in’s presidential election. However, in March 1933, it passed the’Act on the Delegation of All Rights’, giving the president all powers. That very day German democracy came to an end.

Pollution of the word democracy

Not long ago, the president called the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Chief of the Constitutional Court as the Blue House ahead of important rulings. Although there was subtle pressure to cooperate with the’reform of power institutions,’ the court suspended the enforcement of the prosecutor general’s disciplinary action. “The order, the effect of the suspension of the disposition made by the President against the applicant is suspended.” The democratic system of separation of powers is still functioning in this country.

Rep. Kim Doo-gwan, who was hot, pushed for the impeachment of the prosecutor general. “Should the judiciary’s decision be taken as an irreversible final decision? I came to the conclusion that no.” That the legislature would take care of what the administration could not do. This bold idea stems from the confidence that 170 brainless and invincible behemoths dominate the Congress.

He knows well that “impeachment can be dismissed in the constitution.” Still, he does that because “President Yun’s duties are suspended immediately after the resolution of the National Assembly.” He all has plans. “At the same time as the impeachment, a special prosecution against President Yun and his family will be promoted, or an investigation into the criminal offenses of Mr. Yun’s individual at the airlift will be initiated.” Is it a lawmaker or a gangster?

“We must protect democracy with the President.” Seeing that the nuclear power plant investigation is said to be “against the president,” it seems that the manipulation of economic evaluation was a presidential order. The problem is the pollution of the word’democracy’. ‘Democracy’ came to mean mobilizing power agencies to treat others and his family in order to cover up the mischief of the supreme power.

The union of the public and the leader

Minister Chu Mi-ae also expressed his willingness in favor of the impeachment. I posted the same article by Rep. Min Hyung-bae on my YouTube, but the title of the article is interesting. ‘Impeach Yun Seok-yeol, headwind does not come.’ These people have lost their sense of reality. I completely let go of my mind. At that time, it wouldn’t be enough even if you did a wrong fight, but I don’t know if the minister’s joints that were damaged by three boils will be okay.

Their confidence comes from their enthusiastic supporters. “We have a duty to respond to the voices of the people and supporters who have sent overwhelming support.” (Doo-Kwan Kim) “The anger of the supporters is the’headwind’ that the political representatives of the democratic camp should fear most.” (Min Hyung-bae) Jung Kyung-bae A whopping 400,000 people participated in the Blue House petition for the impeachment of Professor Shim’s judgment.

This mobilization of public anger is also a hallmark of totalitarian culture. The Nazis were not Hitler alone, but were actually a mass dictatorship. Their attempts to transplant this unfamiliar culture into this land will fail. This is because, as the successive court rulings have shown, the democratic system is still in operation, and the fanatical supporters of the regime have become increasingly isolated, with a minority of fanatic supporters.

Living with the word “elected power” proves their consciousness still lingers before 87 years. In those days, “democratic” really meant only the people’s direct election of the president. On the other hand, the idea that elected powers are allowed to do’governmental acts’ that transcend the law seems to be a trace of the NL people’s democratic learning they received in the 1980s.

It is unfortunate nationally that those in power cannot distinguish between liberal democracy and popular democracy. This linguistic calamity, owed by a lack of education, is the cause of all things that are happening now. The reality that the destruction of democracy is called’democracy’. The confusion of this language is the first sign of totalitarianism. There is no need to exaggerate the risk. But you should never ignore it.
