[고양신문] The Goyang Line route is expected to be revised drastically in accordance with the Goyang Changneung wide area traffic improvement measures announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. On the 29th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced a final plan to establish a new GTX-A Changneung Station and change the route of the Goyang Line.

With the announcement on the day, the number of stops on the GTX-A line between Goyang City has been increased from two existing stations (Daegok Station and Kintex Station) to Changneung Station, adding to three. As a result, the Goyang Line, which is connected to Seoul Saejeol Station (Line 6), which is a light railroad on the Western Line, was supposed to pass through GTX Daegok Station in the announcement last year. The transfer station has changed.

According to the announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Goyang Line does not go near Daegok Station, but runs toward Hwajeong Station of Line 3 and stops at Goyang City Hall via Hwajeong Station. The end point of the Goyang Line is not Meal Station, but Goyang City Hall. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport explained that Goyang City Hall and Meal Station are connected by tram, a new means of transportation.

Initially, there was criticism that the route to Goyang Line to Daegok Station and then back to City Hall was inefficient, and this was known to adversely affect the economy (BC). However, with the addition of GTX Station (Changneung Station) this time, the efficiency of the route has increased further. With this announcement, the Goyang Line is expected to become a key route through Deokyang-gu, including connecting the Western Line, transferring to Seoul Line 6, transferring to GTX Changneung Station, transferring to Hwajeong Station on Line 3, and transferring to suburban lines at Goyang City Hall Station.

The construction of the Goyang Line is to begin in 2024 and completion in 2029. An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “Through this announcement, the start and end points of the Goyang Line have been confirmed, and detailed routes and station locations will be determined through design services in the future.” “We are planning to start the basic plan by deciding the details and reflecting the high-level plan in 2021.”
