Yoon Chang-yeol, 66, who was the main culprit in the’Good Morning City’ case, which is a 300 billion won pre-sale fraud case, was confirmed to have died while receiving treatment after being infected with a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) while living in prison in an eastern detention center in Seoul. This is the first time among prisoners in the eastern detention center in Seoul where the outbreak of mass infection has occurred, the death of Corona 19 has occurred.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 29th, Yun, who was imprisoned in the Seoul East Detention Center, was confirmed as Corona 19 and was transferred to a life treatment center in the metropolitan area after a decision to suspend execution on the 24th. However, he died in the early morning of the 27th, three days later. It is known that Yoon had underlying diseases such as diabetes. Yoon said, “Even though the group infection spreads, the critically ill patients were left unattended, and they were not properly notified of the suspension of arrest, so they could not keep their deaths.”
In 2003, Yoon was sentenced to 10 years in prison for intercepting some 370 billion won in the sale of Good Morning City, a large shopping mall located in Dongdaemun, Seoul. After being released from the prison, Yoon was handed over to trial again on charges of intercepting about 1.6 billion won from acquaintances in the name of business funds, etc., and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in June 2018, and has been imprisoned.
