President Moon Jae-in said on the 28th, regarding the vaccine for the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), “We expect to be able to start vaccination with priority targets such as medical staff, elderly care facility prisoners and workers from February of next year.”
President Moon made such a statement in both remarks at the last senior and aides meeting this year presiding at the Blue House.
Regarding concerns that Korea has not sufficiently secured a vaccine for the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) or that vaccination will be delayed, he stressed that it is not true.
President Moon said, “The government has been operating the pan-government support system several months ago, listening to the opinions of experts, and making every effort to secure the vaccine, and has revealed several times about vaccination strategies and goals.
“We are progressing smoothly according to the original policy. We have already secured sufficient quantities and are pursuing to secure additional quantities in preparation for unexpected situations. We are also making efforts to speed up the introduction of vaccines, and preparations for vaccination are thorough. I am doing it.”
The government announced that it has signed a purchase contract for 36 million out of the 46 million vaccines that it decided to purchase from the international vaccine development and supply project’COVAX Facility’.
