Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport revised detailed standards for construction supervision work

[충청신문=세종] Reporter Lim Gyu-mo = In the future, simultaneous work on fire-hazardous processes will be prohibited at construction sites. In addition, the role of construction supervisors will be greatly strengthened, such as reinforcing the number of non-resident supervision inspections.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced on the 27th that it announced on the 24th that some amendments to the’construction supervision detailed standard’ containing such contents were announced on the 24th.
First of all, when working on a hazardous process with a high risk of accidents such as a fall or fire at a construction site, the work plan containing the work details and safety measures should be reviewed and confirmed by the construction supervisor beforehand, and the work should be carried out.
Public works have already implemented it since last April. In the future, it will also be applied to private corporations.
Simultaneous work in high fire risk processes is also prohibited. In the case of a fire accident at the Icheon Logistics Center, it has led to a large fire accident as the work of handling flammable materials and handling of fires such as welding were carried out simultaneously in the same space. In the future, these high fire risk processes are prohibited from working simultaneously.
However, exceptions are allowed if the construction supervisor confirms that there is no oil vapor due to sufficient ventilation or installation of machinery for the discharge of oil vapor, and it is recognized that there is no obstacle to safety.
The role of the non-resident supervisor for small-scale construction was also strengthened. For small-scale construction projects with a total floor area of less than 2000m2, there was a limit to securing safety as supervision did not exist, but the number of site visits will increase significantly from at least three to nine.
An official from the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs said, “It is expected that the application of strict standards for supervision work centered on the site will help prevent safety accidents at the construction site.” The two-story floor area is more than 2000㎡) and plans to continuously improve the system, including the revision of the Building Act Enforcement Decree, which includes the mandatory assignment of supervisors in charge of safety management other than construction supervision.”
