The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Gyeonggi Province is exceeding 200 every day. A man in his 80s died while self-isolation after returning from England. The quarantine authorities are investigating whether the man has been infected with a variant virus.

Cumulative 49 patients at Paju Hospital

According to Gyeonggi-do on the 27th, 241 new patients with Corona 19 in the province as of 0 o’clock from the previous day. Excluding foreign inflow patients (4), only 237 patients occurred in the region. Of these, 73 were unable to identify the route of infection. The cumulative number of confirmed cases reaches 13,500.

At a hospital in Paju City, confirmed patients came out one after another from the 21st. A patient who was treated at this hospital continued to be infected, including 21 on the 22nd and 7 on the 23rd, after being confirmed for the first time on the 21st. The previous day, four additional people were confirmed. The cumulative number of patients was 49.

In a nursing home in Paju, where a group infection occurred, one confirmed patient was added, increasing the number of related patients to 34. Two more people were infected at a nursing hospital in Goyang-si. There were 86 cumulative confirmed cases in the province. There were also six deaths related to Corona 19. The cumulative number of deaths reached 230. All six of the dead are elderly people in their 80s to 90s. Two of these are patients in a nursing hospital in Bucheon, who are being quarantined in a cohort (same group). The remaining four died at Gyeonggi Medical Center, Icheon, Paju, Anseong Hospital, and Ilsan Hospital of the National Health Insurance Corporation, a hospital dedicated to Corona 19.

Among the dead, a man in his 80s living in Goyang City was confirmed after death. This man arrived from England on the 13th. While in self-isolation, he was transferred to a hospital due to cardiac arrest at 10:45 am on the 26th. Later, he received samples and first aid, but died at around 11:27 am on the same day. As a result of post-mortem examination, he was diagnosed with Corona 19.

An official in Gyeonggi Province said, “This man was asymptomatic when he returned home,” and said, “We are investigating whether the man had an underlying disease and whether the detected Corona 19 virus is related to the British mutant virus.” The mutant virus test results are expected to be released early next month.

7 serious beds left… Opening of Life Therapy Center

Of the 950 corona 19 treatment beds in Tokyo, 797 are in use. The number of severe patient beds increased to 63 by expanding 4 at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. Currently, I am writing 56. 1,474 are used in 7 life treatment centers (with a capacity of 2967 people). There are 96 people waiting for homes that are not assigned a bed.

Gyeonggi-do will operate a Gyeonggi-type special life treatment center specializing in patients who need oxygen supply or fluids among mild patients. The special life treatment center built in the former Sihwa Hospital building in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung-si, has 72 beds (12 critically ill patients). About 130 people from Gyeonggi-do, Siheung-si, and firefighting, including 100 medical staff, work.
