The Japanese government has decided to temporarily suspend entry for new foreigners from the 28th of this month to the end of January next year. (NHK) Broadcasting reported that the Japanese government announced on the night of the 26th that “the corona19 mutant virus has been found in multiple countries” and has announced restrictions on entry. Accordingly, in Japan, issuance of new visas for foreigners will be suspended until the end of January next year. Foreigners who have already obtained a visa are only allowed to enter the country if they have not visited the UK and South Africa within 14 days prior to application for entry permit. Since last October, Japan has been accepting new entry of foreigners with mid- to long-term sojourn status to the world. However, it has decided to continue to recognize’business traffic’ targeting 11 countries and regions, including Korea. The reason the Japanese government has taken such urgent measures is that cases of corona mutant virus infection from the UK are occurring one after another. In Japan alone, 7 people have been infected with the coronavirus from the UK so far, and in Italy, 6 additional infections have been confirmed in Naples, and a total of 10 people have been confirmed as the mutant virus. Infection cases have also occurred in Spain and Sweden, followed by France, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Ireland, Singapore and Australia. Meanwhile, the number of new corona 19 confirmed cases in Japan is showing the highest number on the fourth day. On the 26th, 3,881 newly confirmed corona infections across Japan. Recently, the number of confirmed corona days in Japan was 3270 on the 23rd, 3740 on the 24th, and 3831 on the 25th. By Kim So-yeon, staff reporter [email protected]
