The largest M&A in Korea this year is SK Hynix’s acquisition of the Intel NAND division.
The acquisition cost alone was KRW 1.33 trillion, which exceeded Samsung Electronics’ acquisition of Harman four years ago.
It is a pavement to keep a clear advantage over Samsung in SSD, which is a computer and mobile storage device, and it can improve profits in the long term by reducing excessive investment.
Although the amount is small, MagnaChip Semiconductor, which was invested in March, is also positive for SK.
Boston Dynamics, acquired by Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun, investing in over 200 billion won in private assets.
It is possible to imagine that a car will have a bridge, but it is expected to be a synergy in realizing Hyundai Motor’s robotics.
“Through this acquisition, we are expecting a great synergy effect from autonomous vehicles, urban aviation mobility UAM, and smart factories.”
Samsung Electronics’ acquisition of Harman is a successful M&A case.
It produces digital multi-displays and cockpits, which are the core of automotive electronics, and made its first surplus with a 27.7% market share in the third quarter of this year alone.
As Samsung Electronics is leading the autonomous driving technology, scalability can be even greater.
“Securing the new technology of the future is an essential element of the survival of the company. It is no exaggeration to say that companies are eager to find a good cost-effective company that already has the new technology of the future.”
LG Group, which acquired the Austrian automotive headlamp company ZKW and the industrial robot company Robostar, established a joint venture with Canada’s Magna International, the world’s third-largest auto parts maker, and is focusing on the electronics business.
