Manchester United launch 1-year option to avoid sending Jesse Lingard without fee

[시사포커스 / 이근우 기자] Manchester United are expected to launch a one-year contract option with Jesse Lingard, 28.
According to British media ’90min’, on the 25th (Korean time), “Man U is planning to extend the contract in order not to lose Lingard in the summer transfer market for free transfer fees. Lingard said the contract will end after the end of this season, and negotiations with other clubs will be possible from January 1 of next year.”
Lingard, from Manchester United youth, debuted in July 2011 and has been on loan to Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Derby County. Since then, he played 209 games in Manchester alone, winning the European Football Federation (UEFA) Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
However, this season, Lingard only played in two Carabao Cup matches. However, Manchester United lost its position as it reinforced the midfield, including Bruno Fernandez and Donny van the Vic. Aston Villa, Everton, and West Bromwich Albion were mentioned as a transfer rumor, but there was no actual negotiation.
‘Sports Mall’ predicts that Manchester United will pursue a leasing to a club that is willing to pay most of Lingard’s weekly wages after launching a one-year extension option with Lingard. Sheffield United and Scotland’s Celtic and Rangers also see potential.
Meanwhile,’Transfer Market’ is valued at 10 million euros (about 13.4 billion won) as Lingard’s transfer fee, so it is unclear whether Manchester United will actually trigger the option.
