New coach Kim Ho-young (51), who has risen to the new command tower of Gwangju FC in professional football, expressed his ambition to complete Gwangju’s unique dynamic soccer.
Coach Kim held an inauguration press conference at the Gwangju soccer field on the 23rd, and shared his feelings and determination for holding the baton of Gwangju.
Director Kim said, “I have a sense of anticipation and fear, but it was very good that I called him as a manager from my hometown. I came with a feeling of excitement.” I am grateful for the time to be together,” he said.
Director Kim Ho-young is a leader from Gwangju. After going through Kumho High School and Dongguk University, he played at Ilhwacheonma (1991-1995) and Jeonbuk Hyundai (1996-1999). Since then, he has built various careers as coaches for the youth national team, chief coach in Guangzhou Everlande, coach at Dongguk University, and acting as FC Seoul coach.
On this day, he expressed his desire for Gwangju to become a competitive team in the first division and to unite players and fans with exciting and enjoyable soccer.
The following is a question and answer of director Kim Ho-young.
-What kind of football are you planning to play in Gwangju?
▲ I want dynamic soccer. He is hoping for a lively appearance in air and water. I play soccer that is proactive and does not easily back down. I believe that through such play, we can bring joy and emotion to our fans. This is my philosophy.
-From other teams, what kind of club does Gwangju evaluate?
▲ Gwangju works really hard. He played devotedly for the team. Such an appearance was respectable.
I would like to add technical aspects such as subtlety to this. Players should be happy in the process of growing up. Of course, I will play the game with tremendous determination, but I want soccer where I can show my skills to my heart’s content with a smile on the playground without a hardened expression. And the fans see it and want exciting soccer together. I hope that players and fans can become one like that.
-How long is the idea of a good means?
▲ There was a basic idea. We know which players are transferred or completed, and who need to be recruited. I plan to reinforce it as I work gradually. I can’t be 100% accurate right now. It must be carefully judged and decided after discussion with the club. The coaching staff is almost in the final stage. Even if I want to have them, they must approve. Rather than a leader with a brilliant background, I want a person who is sincere, exemplary, studying, and devoted to and communicates with players. I am in contact with a person who fits the characteristics of Gwangju.
-I think the CEO and breathing are also important.
▲ Director Man-hee Choi, appointed as the CEO and general manager, has a relationship for about six years. When I was in Jeonbuk as a player, Director Choi was a leader. Since we have eaten Korean pot rice together, we know the tendency better than anyone else. I would like to be a strong supporter when I work. We will respect and effectively negotiate within a given situation to achieve the best results.
-Citizens’ teams face financial difficulties.
▲ Even if you want to bring a good player, you can not follow it. Players to catch and send from existing members must be decided. The rest will be reinforced according to the situation. I want a player who blends well into the team. We plan to organize the players who will benefit the most within our available budget.
-The atmosphere is fuzzy, but what I want to emphasize.
▲ I think it’s a priority to reassure and change the psychology of players. I hope you do your best today and pour everything out, rather than worrying about yesterday and tomorrow. You just have to do your best tomorrow. If you are not ready, you cannot enjoy it at the stadium. Before training, you must be prepared from your heart. We will guide you in the direction of correcting your mind, maximizing your potential, and increasing their value to the best.
-Have you set goals for next season? If there is a team that must be won, which team is it?
▲ During all times, I heard that it was traded with manager Park Jin-seop, who went to FC Seoul. I am more excited than I have to beat Seoul. It will be a pleasant operation. And director Park Jin-seop and my position are different. I needed several verification procedures (laughs). I want to enjoy Gwangju in Sangam as well. Pohang Steelers is the only opponent to win. Next year, I will grab Pohang and break the draw Jinx. Along with this, I want to present my first victory in the opening game, although there has been no victory since the opening in Gwangju exclusive stadium.
