A woman in her 30s was found dead in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, and the police investigated.

According to the police and the Pocheon Migrant Workers Center on the 23rd, a Cambodian female migrant worker A, 30, was found dead in a green house on a farm in Ildong-myeon, Pocheon-si on the 20th.

Mr. A has been working on this farm since December 2018, and he was planning to go to Cambodia on January 14th because his passport expires, a police official said. Mr. A was planning to re-employment at this farm as a sincere worker.

On the day of his death, a cold wave warning was issued in the area of Ildong-myeon, near -14 degrees below zero. Mr. A was discovered by workers on vacation on the 20th.

An official from the Pocheon Migrant Workers Center said, “A worker from a hot country died in a tremendous cold wave. According to the testimony of fellow workers who worked with Mr. A, the farm lodge was in a power outage condition and was not heated.” “It is presumed to be a verb. He urged a thorough fact-finding investigation,” and said, “In addition, I urged the maintenance and demolition of illegal temporary buildings.”

Because the rooms inside the greenhouses that migrant workers use as lodgings are temporary buildings, heating problems are frequent in winter and exposed to flood damage in summer. It is particularly vulnerable to fire damage.

Under current law, green houses should not be used as dormitories. However, there were four more people including Mr. A living in this green house.

The police requested an autopsy to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to find out the exact cause of A’s death.
