LG Electronics made a winning streak this year to popularize OLED TVs. The number of popular large-sized TV models over 70 inches has been greatly increased, and the price has been lowered by about 20% from last year.

LG Electronics announced on the 1st that “2021 LG OLED TV (pictured) will be released,” and that “18 models, 6 more than last year, will be introduced to the global market sequentially, starting with Korea.” 18 new OLED TV models include R (Rollable), G (Gallery), Z (8K Ultra High Definition), C (Standard), A (Standard), B (Standard), etc. It consists of a series of dogs.

LG Electronics increased the number of large product models over 70 inches from 7 last year to 11 this year. A representative example is the addition of 83 inches to the standard product C-series 4K resolution (3840 horizontal x 2160 vertical) OLED TV. It is analyzed that it reflects the large-scale preference phenomenon of the TV market, which is called’Geogeoikseon (巨巨益善)’. An official of the company said, “It is aimed at targeting the demand to enjoy movies like a movie theater at home with an all-red TV.”

The G series, which is called’Gallery TV’, has an appearance that resembles a picture frame and uses a next-generation all-red panel. The TV model name will be released this month as’All-Red Evo’. The advantage is that it emits light of more sophisticated wavelengths than existing products to express more vivid and bright colors.

For the R, Z, G and C series, LG Electronics’ artificial intelligence (AI) image quality and sound quality engine’Alpha 9 4th Generation Processor’ was applied. Upscaling (resolution improvement) as well as a’dynamic tone mapping’ function provides optimal picture quality. It also features a function that plays a two-channel sound source in a virtual three-dimensional sound according to the video.

Convenience has also been enhanced. With a single press of the AI remote control button, you can directly access major apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Watcha. It is also evaluated as an advantage to reduce eye strain. The amount of blue light emission is known to be half of that of premium LCD TVs in the same inch range.

The 2021 LG OLED TV’s domestic shipment price is 4.6 million won for the G series, 4.1 million won for the C series, and 3.8 million won for the B series based on 65-inch products. The price is 17.8% lower for the G series, 18.0% for the C series, and 19.1% for the B series. Last year, LG Display’s Guangzhou plant in China began operation in earnest, and the increase in OLED panel supply was largely affected. There is also an evaluation that LG Electronics has significantly lowered the price to dispel the perception that’all-red TVs are expensive’. Hyung-se Park, head of LG Electronics’ HE (home entertainment) business division (Vice President), emphasized, “We will create an’all-red trend’ by creating an all-red TV fandom.”
