On the 24th (local time), American ABC broadcasted the story of Stone Poltz, 20, who died after drinking 40 glasses of alcohol at a freshman Shingo ceremony of’Pie Capa Alpha’, a social club at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Paulz lost consciousness and breathing after drinking too much on the 4th and was transferred to the hospital, but died after being diagnosed with brain death after three days. Stone’s mother, Shari, said, “I asked my son why he had to go to the Shin-King Ceremony, and he replied,’It’s just one of the customs, so I have to go. But I don’t want to go.’

Stone is not the first to die after binge drinking at a social club in the United States. The tradition of the social club Shingo ceremonies is notorious, so there is a separate page on the Wikipedia page listing students who lost their lives at the Shin-go ceremony.

Bowling Green State University suspended the operation of the Pi Kappa Alpha indefinitely shortly after the incident, and is currently investigating the case with an investigative agency. The university stopped all other social clubs and meetings on and off campus.

In a statement after the death of Paulz, the Central Headquarters of’Pie Kappa Alpha’ said that the event he attended “looks like an off-campus haze related to alcohol,” and “instructed Bowling Green State University to cooperate with the authorities’ investigation. ‘Pi Kappa Alpha’ is a historic college student social club with more than 200 branches around the world. It was first made at the University of Virginia in 1868.

In the United States, college students join social clubs as a culture. It is known that many students join social clubs in order to make connections that last until after graduation.
