The results of a public opinion poll were found to lead within the margin of error in a hypothetical bilateral confrontation between Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate for the Democratic Party, and Park Young-sun, a candidate for the Democratic Party, who ran for the 4·7 Seoul Mayor’s by-election. In Busan, it was found that Park Hyung-jun, the people’s strength preliminary candidate, outperformed the Democratic Party preliminary candidates.

According to the results of a public opinion poll conducted by SBS on the 11th to Ipsos, a polling agency, and conducted on 800 people aged 18 and over living in Seoul on the 6th and 9th, if a bilateral confrontation is held on the premise of unification, Ahn’s preliminary candidate is 43.5. %, and Park Young-sun was 40.6%.

In the same survey, respondents cited Park as the most suitable candidate for pan-passport (30.0%) and candidate Ahn (27.0%) for pan-option candidates.

As a result of a virtual confrontation assuming that the opposition powers as candidates for the people’s strength were unified, Park’s approval ratings all surpassed 10%p. The virtual confrontation between Park Candidate and Na Gyeong-won Preliminary Candidate for the People’s Strength was 43.7% vs. 33.7%, and the virtual confrontation between Park and Se-hoon Oh and the Preliminary Candidate of People’s Strength was 45.1% vs. 33.0%.

If the single candidate for pan-passport is the Democratic Party’s preliminary candidate, Sang-ho Woo, Candidate Na, Candidate Oh and Bing Park. On the other hand, in the virtual confrontation between Candidate Woo and Candidate Ahn Chul-soo, Ahn was significantly ahead of 33.0% vs. 46.9%.

In Busan, it was investigated that Park Hyung-jun, the people’s strength preliminary candidate, was ahead of the Democratic Party preliminary candidates.

As a result of a survey by Korea Research on 805 men and women over the age of 18 residing in Busan on the 8th and 9th at MBC’s request, candidate Park Hyung-joon outperformed Democratic candidates by more than 10 percentage points.

Candidate Park greatly outpaced Candidate Kim with 46.3% vs. 28.9% in the bilateral confrontation with the Democratic Party candidate Kim Young-chun. The preliminary candidates for the Democratic Party Byeon Seong-wan were counted as 48.1% Park and 25.5% Byun.

Assuming that the preliminary candidate Lee Eon-ju becomes a candidate for unification, the result was tight within the margin of error. In the virtual confrontation between Candidate Lee and Candidate Young-Chun Kim, 35.6% and 34.7%, respectively. The virtual confrontation between candidate Lee (34.8%) and candidate Seong-wan Byun (29.3%) is also within the margin of error.

Ipsos Seoul Mayor’s opinion poll and Korea Research’s Busan mayor’s poll sample error is ±3.5%p with 95% confidence level, respectively. For more information, refer to the website of the Central Election Polls Review Committee.
