A Lotte Courier worker in his 30s died. The death of a courier worker estimated to have been overworked is already the 16th this year.

A courier worker at Lotte Global Logistics (Lotte Courier) in his 30s died. Again, it is believed to be overworked. There are only 16 courier workers who appear to be overworked this year.

According to the Courier Workers’ Overworked Countermeasures Committee (the Countermeasure Committee), a 34-year-old man from Sejong, Gwonseon in Suwon, Lotte Courier, died the day before (23) after suffering from overwork after joining the company on July 1st.

Mr. A, who was 190cm tall and weighed 110kg, lost nearly 20kg in 5 months after joining the company. Mr. A, who was busy with no time to take care of his body, said that he usually told his family,’I want to quit’ and’It’s too hard.’

The Committee insisted that Mr. A went to work at 6 a.m. every morning and left work at 9-10 p.m. and suffered from working for a long period of 14-15 hours.

From the contents of A’s messenger that was released by the countermeasure committee, you can guess his usual workload.

In a conversation with an acquaintance last month, the deceased complained, “Something is in a hurry,” and the acquaintance reads him thoroughly, saying, “If I go around 300 times, I get scared.” Next month, Mr. A’s situation did not improve. On the 15th, about a week before his death, Mr. A sent a message to his acquaintances at around 6:24 pm, saying “152 items” and “more than 300 today”.

Lotte Courier is first refuting the claim of overwork.

Lotte Courier said to the Hankyoreh, “It is confirmed that the deceased delivered an average of 270 to 280 units per day.” “Details need to be understood.”

However, it seems that Lotte Courier did not properly observe the measures to prevent overwork that it had prepared for itself. The countermeasures committee pointed out through the press release, “It was confirmed that no one of the sorting workforces promised by Lotte Courier had been put in.”

Last month, the government put out measures to prevent overwork by courier operators, such as limiting working hours per day and late-night delivery, but the tragedy was repeated again after a month.

It’s not just Mr. A. According to the Countermeasures Committee, a courier worker at Lotte Courier in Busan fell during delivery on the 7th, and on the 14th, a courier worker at Hanjin Courier collapsed due to a brain hemorrhage and is still lying down after surgery. And on the 22nd, there was an accident in which a Rozen courier courier worker had a finger cut off the rail.
