A few moments later, at 4:20 pm, the US and ROK defense ministers will hold a meeting with Defense Minister Seo Wook.

US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln also arrived at Osan Air Force Base a while ago, and is scheduled to hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Eui-Yong Jeong this evening.

Major issues such as the situation on the Korean peninsula including the North Korean nuclear issue, strengthening the ROK-US alliance, ROK-US-Japan cooperation, and the transition of control before war will be put on the table.

In particular, at the ROK-US foreign ministers’ meeting, cooperation with North Korea and policy coordination are expected to be discussed in depth after the inauguration of the Biden government.

It is noteworthy that there will be a message from Minister Blincoln to North Korea, as North Korea’s Vice President Kim Yeo-jeong, who criticized South Korea and the United States at the same time, while criticizing Korea-US training yesterday.

Tomorrow morning, the Korean-US foreign affairs and defense ministers, including Ministers Chung Eui-yong, Seo-wook, Blincoln, and Austin, will all gather at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building and hold a ‘2+2’ meeting.

The agenda consists of four main agendas: current issues and development directions for the ROK-US alliance, issues on the Korean peninsula including the North Korean nuclear issue, cooperation between the United States and Korea, and regional and global cooperation.

In particular, since the Biden administration has attempted to contact North Korea since the middle of last month, it has finished reviewing the policy toward North Korea without receiving any answers.

In the process of exchanging information and opinions with our side, attention is focused on whether the new US policy toward North Korea will outline.
