A passenger plane carrying a Pfizer vaccine, arrived at the airport a while ago?

[기자]

That’s right.

Pfizer vaccine just arrived here at Incheon International Airport.

A total of 58,500 people were loaded onto a Korean Air cargo plane and landed there.

The Pfizer vaccine will soon be transferred to the vaccination vehicle you see behind the scenes, and police, military and health officials are busy moving to ensure safe transport.

Pfizer vaccines have the property of being stored at around 75 degrees below zero, so they need protection to keep them in cryogenic conditions.

Korean Air explained that it will transport vaccines using the A330-300, a cargo plane equipped with a cryogenic cold chain system for transporting pharmaceuticals, and two specialists for special cargo transport will be accompanied.

In addition, a temperature-controlled container that maintains a cryogenic state was introduced through a dry ice device.

As a separate power supply structure, the battery for its own power is installed, so it can maintain a cryogenic state even in an emergency situation where the power is cut off.

Due to this difficulty in storage and distribution, Pfizer vaccines are first delivered to 5 vaccination centers nationwide, where they can be managed immediately after arriving at the airport.

Pfizer vaccination will start tomorrow at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

199 workers at the National Medical Center and 101 workers at the treatment hospital for COVID-19 patients in the metropolitan area are eligible for vaccination.

From the 8th of next month, each vaccination center will be delivered to 82 in-house vaccination centers, and vaccinations will continue to target 55,000 medical staff to treat COVID-19 patients.

To date, the government has secured 79 million vaccines, including the Pfizer vaccine.

Pfizer vaccines secured 13 million people, AstraZeneca 10 million people, Janssen vaccine 6 million people, and Modena and NovaVax vaccines 20 million people each.

In addition, we have decided to supply 10 million people through COVAX Facility, an international vaccine supply organization.

Different types of vaccines have different transportation conditions.

AstraZeneca should be stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius, and Janssen and Modena vaccines should be stored at -20 degrees Celsius.

Korean Air has formed a dedicated organization since September last year, before the development of the corona vaccine, to prepare for the transport of vaccines under various conditions.

Korean Air said it was not technically difficult due to its extensive experience in transporting medicines, although there is a condition of cryogenic temperatures.

It has secured over 14,000 temperature-controlled containers to prepare for international transportation demand.
