[기상센터][날씨] Cozy but fine dust…Preliminary measures to reduce fine dust in the metropolitan area

[앵커]

Even today, it’s a holiday, it will be cozy, but the air quality is not good, especially in the Midwest.

In the metropolitan area, preliminary measures to reduce fine dust have been taken.

Let’s find out more with the weather team, Yu Da-hyeon, caster. Hi!

Let’s start with the situation of fine dust.

Which area is the air quality bad right now?

[캐스터]

Yes, fine dust that had been pushed out onto the West Sea came back inland.

With the inflow of smog from China, the air is very turbid, mainly in the west.

Currently, the concentration of ultrafine dust in Seoul is 60 micrograms per hour, which is 2 to 3 times the usual level.

Gyeonggi and Chungcheong Province are’bad’.

Today, the midwest, Jeonbuk, Gwangju, Daegu, Ulsan, and Jeju Island will have cloudy air all day.

The metropolitan area is expected to rise to the’very bad’ stage in the morning.

As the situation is expected to get worse tomorrow, preliminary measures to reduce fine dust have been imposed in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon.

Preliminary reduction measures refer to preemptive fine dust reduction measures targeting the public sector one day in advance when the possibility of implementing emergency reduction measures is high.

It’s from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. today.

When preliminary reduction measures are issued, measures such as shortening the operating hours of public worksites, suppressing scattering dust at construction sites, and expanding the operation of road sweepers are implemented.

There was a lot of fog this morning, but how is it now?

[캐스터]

Yes, the fog is seldom disappearing.

The visibility distance of Haenam, Jeollanam-do is 40 meters and Baengnyeongdo is 90 meters, making it difficult to see 100 meters ahead.

In particular, the west coast area is very foggy due to sea fog.

Ship operation is expected to be disrupted, so you need to check the flight information in advance.

The sky road is also stuffy.

Gwangju and Muan airports are expected to have low visibility warnings until 10 am.

During the daytime, fog remains and fine dust remains, making the sky cloudy, and raindrops are expected to fall in the afternoon on the east coast of Yeongdong and Gyeongbuk.

Even today, the mild western wind raises the temperature.

The daytime temperature in Seoul will be 14 degrees, and Gwangju and Daegu will be 16 degrees, 3-4 degrees higher than the previous year.

You can see spring flowers these days. When will you be able to see cherry blossoms?

[캐스터]

Yes, you can see forsythia or azaleas that mark the beginning of spring these days.

Cherry blossoms, which mark the peak of spring, can be seen earlier than usual.

This is because the temperature in March, which has the greatest influence on the cherry blossom season, seems to be somewhat high.

Cherry blossoms are expected to bloom on March 20, starting with Jeju Island, from March 24 to 29 in the southern region, and March 30 to April 5 in the central region.

By spot for cherry blossoms, the beautiful cherry blossoms will appear on March 24th in Jinhae Yeojwacheon and Ssanggyesa in Hadong, and around March 25th in Bomun Complex in Gyeongju.

It is also expected that cherry blossoms will burst on April 3 at Yunjung-ro, Yeouido, Seoul.

Finally, what are the weather forecasts this week?

[캐스터]

Yes, you should keep the fine dust in mind this week as well.

There must be many days when the air is bad.

Shall we look at the detailed weather forecast this week?

The temperature is higher than usual.

Especially in the second half of the week, the daytime temperature in Seoul will rise to 18 degrees Celsius, showing the temperature in mid-April.

Look at the expression of the sky.

From tomorrow night to the day after tomorrow, spring rain will come across the country.

As it is spring rain, the amount is small, so it seems difficult to completely eliminate fine dust.
