The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said last month that exports recorded $51.4 billion, an increase of 12.6 percent from the same period last year.

It increased for the second consecutive month following an increase of 4.1% in November of last year.

Exports increased for the second consecutive month in 25 months.

In addition, this month’s exports are the highest of all December exports and the sixth highest monthly.

In particular, exports of semiconductors increased by 30%, with 11 out of 15 items showing positives.

Imports increased by 1.8% to $446 billion, and the trade balance was $6.94 billion, continuing a surplus for eight consecutive months.

On an annual basis last year, total exports amounted to $51.85 billion, down 5.4% from the previous year, and imports decreased by 7.2% to $46.73 billion.

As a result, the trade balance recorded a surplus of $45.6 billion for 12 consecutive years.

Total exports exceeded 500 billion dollars for 4 consecutive years, but as imports declined, Korea’s trade amount failed to reach 1 trillion dollars for 4 consecutive years.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy evaluated that although annual exports declined due to the corona 19, exports have shown a clear recovery since the third quarter.
